A huge part of the Peak mission is to not only enable our customers to do great things with data, but also to build a truly amazing company – one that the team loves being a part of.

With this in mind, company culture and team engagement and wellbeing are key priorities for us here at Peak, and we’re absolutely delighted to announce that we’ve achieved the maximum 3 star accreditation award from Best Companies!

Best Companies is an annual survey and recognition programme which sets the standard for workplace engagement and employee wellbeing. Our 3 star accreditation puts us in the top bracket of those companies participating in the survey, and recognises ‘extraordinary’ levels of employee engagement. We were awarded this status for our Best Companies Index score, which measures how engaged people are at work and how they feel about their employer.

This is a huge honour for the entire Peak team, and is a testament to all we have done to make working at Peak a fantastic experience for the team. The award recognises that we care about the Peak team – both in terms of their wellbeing and their career development – and that we see an engaged workforce and workplace as a vital part of business success.

I would like to congratulate Peak on your achievement. Best Companies have been producing the accreditation standard since 2006 to acknowledge excellence in the workplace. Organisations like Peak have continued to focus on their employees and have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that is a ‘best company’ to work for.

Jonathan Austin

CEO & Founder, Best Companies

We founded Peak with the vision of creating a new kind of tech company, and providing a culture and an environment in which the team love being a part of is absolutely crucial to achieving this. To be awarded with a 3 star accreditation in the Best Companies survey is a tremendous achievement, and really reaffirms our commitment to maintaining and improving the Peak culture as we continue to grow. It’s also a fantastic recognition of all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes at Peak to ensure that the team always feel supported and enjoy coming to work everyday.

Richard Potter

CEO & Co-founder, Peak

Our actual Best Companies Index score will be revealed on 28 February 2020, at the fifth annual Best Companies Day – so be sure to keep an eye out on social media to find out how we’ve done compared to other 3 star companies and the rest of the UK!

At Peak, we're incredibly proud of our culture and our values. As a forward-thinking company operating in an exciting and fast-moving space, our commitment to diversity and our belief in inclusivity and openness are key reasons for our continuous growth and the success we've already enjoyed as a business.

As it’s International Women’s Day, I thought it’d be a great time to share with you some of our beliefs when it comes to women in the workplace, and our ongoing commitment to increasing our percentage of female staff across the business.

Currently, across the entire company, women make up 17% of our overall workforce. Whilst we’re in line with the national average when compared to the rest of the tech industry, we want to do more.

Our ambitions to continue to scale and our hiring strategy have seen us set some very clear targets in terms of welcoming more women to the business. Initially, we are aiming to increase our female talent by 50%, with the aim of being at least 26% female by 2020.

We’re in the process of developing a thorough D&I (diversity and inclusion) strategy to help us achieve this; we’ll be sharing it on our website www.peak.ai and will track our progress against our target for ultimate transparency.

October 2019 update

Since writing this article back in March 2018, our D&I strategy has been in full swing – and we’re thrilled to be able to share a positive update! As of 4 October 2019, our female staff figure now sits at 26%, the target we set out to achieve by 2020. We’re now reviewing our D&I strategy for the year ahead to ensure we become even more inclusive, and to set further targets.

What’s more, our leadership team has grown to 30% women, from 8% back in March 2018. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved through our D&I strategy, and to now have a percentage of female staff that sits above the national average!

To celebrate our Women In Tech, here are some of our female staff talking about their career backgrounds and achievements since joining Peak:

To celebrate the important role that women play at Peak, we’ve compiled a selection of quotes from some of the female members of the team about why they love working here. Also included is a statement from our CEO Richard Potter, which I feel sums up our beliefs and values rather nicely…

Kirsty Parsons, Data Scientist: “What I love about working at Peak is the amazingly equal amount of support, collaboration and encouragement across genders in the workplace. It’s both energising and motivating me to produce work beyond what I thought I could do.”

Lauren Rodgers, Data Scientist: “I love working at Peak because it enables me to be at the forefront of AI as a female data scientist. I’m surrounded by a strong team and have access to a great breadth of knowledge – we are one big family.”

Kaylea Haynes, Data Scientist: “Peak gives me the opportunity to work with really brilliant people to do really great things with data. I’m constantly encouraged, supported and inspired to push the boundaries on what is possible in a diverse range of data science problems.”

Amy Szadziewska, Data Scientist: “I love working at Peak because I learn something new every day. The collaborative and open environment at Peak HQ means everyone is constantly sharing innovative and exciting ways we can use data to solve business problems, allowing individuals and the company as a whole to thrive and create great work.”

Richard Potter, CEO: “Peak was founded on values of inclusivity and openness, and that extends to how we grow our workforce and empower our teams. Specifically, we believe that diversity is essential in creating a high performance team and culture at Peak, as well as building great products for our customers.”

We’re always looking to welcome on board new talent at Peak, female or male. If you’re interested in joining our growing team, you can view our current job vacancies here.
